Bali Island Paradise Raka Tours
Every year, from May through October the southerly trade winds roll in off the Indian Ocean like clockwork, making it possible to fly the southern coast of the Bukit Peninsula, from the Nikko Bali Hotel at Nusa Dua to the Puri Bali Villas at Nyang-Nyang. A total of 12 kilometers of soarable ridge ranging from 100 to 1,000 feet above sea level, suited for novice through to advanced paraglider pilots.
Paragliding in Bali is the simplest form of human flight. A paraglider is a non-motorized, foot-launched inflatable wing. It is easy to transport, easy to launch, and easy to land. The paraglider is constructed of rip-stop nylon from which sturdy kevlar lines suspend the pilot.
Most people think that learning to fly a paraglider is a difficult thing to do and in fact, it is quite easy and safe. With a paraglider, you fly like a bird, soaring upwards on currents of air. Paragliders routinely stay aloft for 3 hours or more, climb to elevations of 15.000', and go cross-country for vast distances.
You can make paragliding, like most adventure sports, as safe or dangerous as you want. It is of course crucial that you receive instruction from a certified professional and use safe equipment - professional schools will create as controlled a learning environment as possible.
Here's a memory that's sure to be etched in your memory: the Bali sun setting in front of you, the sea below you, the shoreline beside you as people scattered beneath you look up to enjoy the scenic view.
Don't forget to bring your running/sports shoes for this activity as flip-flops are strictly not allowed.
The tandem flight consists of a short instructional briefing followed by a 20 minute flight (weather permitting). The tandem paraglider is flown by one of our fully qualified pilots. During the flight the pilot will explain to you what he is doing, and if conditions permit, allow you some hands-on control of the glider.
